Terms of Service

1. The service

7.HT lets you turn long web addresses into short 7.ht links, generate QR codes for them, and see anonymous statistics about how often they are visited.

The free plan costs nothing. Paid plans (Pro and Business) add higher limits and longer analytics, at the prices shown on the pricing page.

Paid plans are sold through Waffo Pancake, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, issues invoices and is the seller shown on your statement. Your purchase is also subject to Waffo's buyer terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time under Plan & billing; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. Payments already made are not refunded pro rata, except where the law requires otherwise.

If a renewal payment fails, Waffo retries it for a while. If it still fails, the subscription ends and the account returns to the free plan. When an account returns to the free plan, the free plan's limits apply again and analytics older than 90 days are deleted.

We may change prices for future billing periods. We will email subscribers at least 30 days before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel before then.

2. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with your GitHub or Google account. Accounts are identified by email address, so each of these methods reaches the same account. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address and those accounts secure, and for everything done through your account.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if higher, to create an account.

Give us an email address you control. Accounts created to get around limits or bans may be closed.

3. Limits

To keep the free service sustainable and to limit abuse, we apply limits, including:

• 100 new short links per account per calendar month on the free plan, and more on paid plans;
• 3 short links per day when trying the service without an account;
• rate limits on requests from the same network or account.

We may change these limits. Changes will not delete links you have already created.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use 7.HT to create, share or disguise links that:

• lead to phishing, fraud, scams, malware, or other harmful software;
• lead to content that is illegal where you or your audience are, including child sexual abuse material;
• are used for spam, including unsolicited bulk messages;
• harass, threaten, or incite violence against people or groups;
• infringe someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights;
• point to other link shorteners or redirect chains in order to hide the final destination.

You also may not interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, scrape it at scale, or get around its limits or security checks.

5. Your links and content

You keep all rights to the web pages you link to and to the titles you enter. You give us permission to store, display and process them only as needed to run the service, for example to show your dashboard and to redirect visitors.

Short codes belong to the service, not to you. Once a short link is deleted, its code is retired and will not be given to anyone else.

Short links do not expire unless you set an expiry, but we do not promise to keep any link working forever (see sections 6 and 7).

6. How we enforce these terms

We automatically check destinations against lists of known unsafe websites and review reports we receive. If we believe a link breaks these terms, we may disable it without notice. Visitors to a disabled link see a warning page instead of being redirected.

We may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly or seriously break these terms. Where it is safe and practical to do so, we will tell you why.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep 7.HT fast and available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features.

If we ever decide to shut down the service, we will give account holders at least 30 days' notice by email.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not control the websites that short links point to and are not responsible for their content. Statistics are provided for guidance and may not be exact.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the service. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using 7.HT at any time. To delete your account, email support@7.ht from the address you sign in with. Deleting an account cancels any subscription it has.

Sections 5, 8, 9 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator of 7.HT resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If the law of the country where you live gives you protections that cannot be waived by contract, those protections still apply.
